School talks

We visit schools to talk about fire safety with classes at all Key Stages. These talks are tailored to audience requirements and also adapted for classes with special educational needs.

Key Stage 1

Local firefighters and our Schools Liaison Officer regularly go into schools to talk to pupils about Fire Safety. Topics covered in the talk are:

  • Drago the Dragon learns about fire safety
    • get out, get the fire service out, stay out
    • never touch matches and lighters they can hurt
    • smoke alarms

Every pupil will receive a copy of our Drago the Drago story book and there are lots of interactive fun and activities on our Drago web pages.

Key Stage 2

Our Schools Liaison Officer regularly goes into schools to talk to pupils about Fire Safety. Topics covered in the talk are:

  • triangle of fire
  • five most common causes of fire
  • smoke alarms
  • arson
  • hoax calls
  • escape plans

Key Stage 3

Local firefighters and our Schools Liaison Officer may visit schools to help develop the fire safety awareness skills for Key Stage 3 pupils. In this programme there is an emphasise on pupils taking greater responsibility for their safety.
