Elderly people

Discussing fire safety

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service provides smoke alarms to vulnerable people and helps them to develop personal fire escape plans.

We visit residents in their own homes to assess fire risks and special smoke alarms and equipment can be provided to give the hard-of-hearing an increased level of protection.

We also work with voluntary groups and other organisations to provide vulnerable residents, including those with special needs or physical difficulties, with safety information and advice.

Our staff recognise that the ever-increasing elderly population is among the most vulnerable from the risk of fire and injury and we target our fire safety messages in those areas.

We are constantly seeking out the groups that provide services to the community so that we can work with them to provide better fire protection.
