Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service gets involved in various community safety events and charity fundraisers throughout the year.

 

Fire Fighters Charity Gig

When: Thursday 2 May 2013

Time: Start time 8pm

Where: Fat Lils, Witney

What: Fundraiser from the Oxford 2 Bonn cycle team raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity. The Black Hats, Not My Day and Road Kill are going to raise the roof so come along and bring your friends as well. Tickets are £4 on the door, all extra donations welcome.

Hein Gericke Charity & Motorcycle Weekend

When: Sunday 5 May 2013

Time: 10am – 5pm

Where: Hein Gericke Shop, Eynsham OX29 4EN

What: Hein Gericke are holding a charity and motorcycle weekend raising money for Spinal Research and promoting rider safety. On the Sunday Firefighters from Eynsham and the Road Safety Education Team will be attending to promote motorcycle safety. If you’re in the area pop down and meet the team.

 

City Cycle Safety Week

When: Friday 14 June and Saturday 15 June 2013

Time: 10am – 4pm

Where: Broad Street, Oxford

What: Oxford City are holding a cycle safety week in June. Firefighters from Rewley Road and the Road Safety Education Team will be attending the events on Friday and Saturday to promote cycle checks and correct helmet fitting. The event is being organised by TVP and is being supported by the Oxford Bus Company, the British Transport Police, Universities and city Council. If you’re in the area pop and long and meet the team.

 

Ride of Respect

When: Sunday 16 June 2013

Time: 9am – 12 noon

Where: Dalton Barracks, Oxfordshire

What: The Road Safety Education Team will be attending the Ride of Respect which is now in its fourth year. They will be promoting motorcycle safety and protective clothing at the start of the event. Up to 10,000 motorbikes will be taking part in a ride through Carterton and Brize Norton to pay their respects to the brave Service men and women killed in Afghanistan and to thank the towns for their care of our heroes and their families. The will be raising vital funds for The Royal British Legion in support of our Armed Forces and their families. The main riders will gather at Dalton Barracks in Oxfordshire and will set off in groups of 500 every 15 minutes on an AA marked route.

 

Cassington Bike Night

When: Monday 24 June

Time: 4pm - 10pm

Where: Cassington, Oxfordshire

What: The Cassington Bike Night is back. Firefighters from Eynsham and the Road Safety Education Team are attending to promote motorcycle safety. If you’re in the area pop down and meet the team and take a look at the new motorbike mannequins that are dressed different types of motorcycle gear.

 

H Café Bike Safe Day

When: Sunday 30 June 2013

Time: 10am – 4pm

Where: H Café, Dorchester On Thames, Oxfordshire, OX10 7LY

What: H Café are holding a family friendly bike safe day. Firefighters from Abingdon and the Road Safety Education Team will be attending to promote motorcycle safety along with TV, the Air Ambulance and Helibikes. If you’re in the area pop down and meet the team and take a look at the new motorbike mannequins. They will be dressed in different types of motorcycle gear and one will be event dressed in normal clothing to show why it is not adequate when out on a bike. You can attend a free first aid course, get your helmet reconditioned and there’s also a barbeque, live band and a bouncy castle.
