Community Fire Fit Challenge Day
When: Saturday 8th October 2011
Where: Kidlington Leisure Centre
Time: 10am - 4pm
Kidlington Fire Station are holding a Community Fire Fit Challenge day at Kidlington Leisure Centre on Saturday 8th October from 10am to 4pm in aid of the Fire Fit Health Challenge.
The Community Fit Challenge is FREE and has eight different activities which are suitable for all ages and abilities to come and have a go at.
If you have you ever wanted to have a go at rolling out hose, a dummy drag or pulling a hose from a fire engine and then winding it back on then why not come along.
Are you fitter than a fire fighter? If you think you can beat a fire fighter then have a go at each of the challenges and try to be quicker than the Kidlington fire crew!
Participants will also have the chance to have a simple fitness test by one of our trained fitness advisors.
All of the challenges are adapted so everyone who has a reasonable standard of fitness will be able to have a go. They will be shown how to do each challenge by fire fighters and carefully monitored during the challenge so they do not over do it.
Prizes and free swim passes will be give to anybody who tries their best, you don’t have to be the best as long as you try your best and have a go.
Parkwood Community Leisure has kindly given the use of Kidlington Leisure Centre for the Community Fire Fit Challenge Day.
If you would like to take part please wear suitable clothing and trainers.
About the fire fit health challenge
The fire fit health challenge is a national challenge which many fire services around the UK have signed up to.
It has three objectives:
- To promote a healthy workplace within the fire service.
- To encourage communities to get fit and take part in activities.
- To promote the work of our charity. The fire fighters charity.
As part of this challenge Kidlington Fire Station have signed up and are using the fire fighters as role models to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
