Brakes Road Safety Week
Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service is supporting Brakes Road Safety Week. The Road Safety Team will be promoting road safety at various events across the county.
Operation Pit Stop
When: Tuesday 22nd November
Time: 10am to 2pm
Where: Henley College Campus
Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service and Thames Valley Police are working in partnership to provide motorcycle safety advice to young riders. The Road Safety Team and police officers will talk to youngsters about the importance of wearing protective equipment and hand out free reflective jackets and other safety gear at the event. Police motorcyclists will also be on hand to remind young riders of the legal requirements of taking their motorcycles or mopeds out on the road and how to maintain them to keep themselves safe.
Lights on Bikes
When: Thursday 24th November
Time: 6pm to 9pm
Where: Brize Norton
The ‘Lights on bikes’ campaign is run all year round across the Thames Valley. Due to the darker evenings the Road Safety Team will be supporting Thames Valley Police by reminding cyclists to ensure they have the correct safety measures in place to help prevent them from becoming a victim of a traffic collision.
Sitting Tight
When: Friday 25th November
Time: 11:30am to 1pm
Where: Banbury
The road safety team will be talking to parents to see if they are safely transporting children in cars, by using the correct child seat. The team will also be offering FREE child seat checks as 4 out of 5 seats are fitted incorrectly.
Firefighters from Banbury Fire Station will also be at the event to provide fire safety advice.
