2012 New Years Resolutions

Have you made yours yet? Take a look at our suggestions for New Year Resolutions that could make you and your family safer in 2012.

  • complete a home fire risk check
  • drive for the conditions of the road, adjust your speed and give yourself time to react
  • create a fire escape plan with your family
  • when cycling always wear your helmet and have working lights at night
  • help get Oxfordshire into the Test it Tuesday routine by always testing your smoke alarms on a Tuesday and encouraging family and friends to do the same
  • never use a mobile phone whilst driving, even if it's handsfree
  • if you haven’t got working smoke alarms, get them fit them and test them on a Tuesday
  • always wear you seatbelt
  • get into a bedtime routine, every night close all internal doors, make sure candles and open fires are out and turn off and unplug electrical appliances - unless they are meant to be left on e.g. your freezer
  • never drink and drive
  • never overloaded sockets – plugging too many electrical appliances into one socket can lead to overheating
  • remember to stop look and listen before crossing the road
