Cricket pavilion destroyed by fire

At 3.45am on the 20 February 2012 Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire at Eynsham cricket pavilion on the Cassington road, Eynsham.

Crews from Eynsham, Kidlington and Oxford were faced with an mounting fire. Crews tackled the blaze using main jets and ground monitors which enabled crews to fight the fire from a safe distance as there were cylinders involved in the fire.

Station Manager Paul Bremble said: “The crews were faced with a well developed fire which involved the whole of the cricket pavilion. The actions of the crew directing jets on to the cylinders reduced the risks of this incident escalating. Thankfully no one was hurt.”

Thames Valley Police are treating this incident as arson.
