Chip Shop Fire
On Friday 20 January 2012 Oxfordshire County Councils Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire in a chip shop in Headington, Oxford.
At 12.55pm three fire engines from The Slade and Rewley Road were sent to deal with a fire in the extraction duct of Posh Fish on London Road, which had also spread to the roof void. On arrival crews were met with a large amount of smoke issuing from the front of the shop.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using CO2 extinguishers and high pressure hose reels. Three people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Station Manager Paul Webster said: “Luckily everyone was able to evacuate from both the shop and the flat above, and we were able to deal with the fire effectively.”
