Fire in derelict pub

On Friday 27 January 2012, Oxfordshire County Councils Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of smoke issuing from a derelict pub in Marston, Oxford.

At 3:05pm two fire engines from The Slade and Rewley Road were sent to deal with the fire in The Bricklayers Arms, Marston.

On arrival crews were met with a large amount of smoke issuing from behind boarded up doors, windows and the roof void. Around 30 fire fighters were needed to bring the blaze under control.

Fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using high pressure hose reels and water jets. Nobody was hurt in the incident. The cause is still being investigated.
