Fire in fuse box
Oxfordshire County Council Fire & Rescue Service were called to a developing house fire at at Birch Grove, Madley Park, Witney, Oxfordshire at 6:09pm on Monday the 2 of January 2012.
Three appliances, from Witney and Oxford, attended the incident.
On arrival the initial crews were faced with a developing fire in an electrical fuse box in a downstairs cloakroom, Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a Carbon Dioxide Fire Extinguisher to put out the fire.
Watch Manager Glen Lee from Witney Fire Station said “The quick actions of the fire crews meant the fire damage was limited to the downstairs cloakroom. We would advise anyone with any concerns regarding their electrical wiring or fuse box to have it checked by a competent electrician.”
The property was fitted with working smoke alarms and thankfully there were no injuries. Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service would like to remind you to fit smoke alarms in your property and test them regularly to ensure they are in working order.
