Roof fire in Farmoor

Crews from Oxfordshire County Council Fire & Rescue Service were called to a blaze in the roof of a house on Oxford Road, Farmoor on Tuesday 20 December 2011.

The fire started at 8.30 in the evening but due to the quick actions of the occupiers the Fire Service were called and crews arrived from Oxford and Eynsham.

In total four fire appliances and 20 fire fighters worked to stop the fire spreading to the rest of the house.

It is suspected that the fire originated in the chimney and spread to the rest of the roof. Station Manager Simon Belcher said: "We always recommend that chimneys are swept by a trained professional at least twice a year".
