Washing machine fire
At 1141hrs on Friday 11th November, Oxfordshire County Councils Fire and Rescue Service were called to a report of a washing machine on fire in Lidsey Road.
Two fire engines from Banbury attended the incident and on arrival were met by the occupier, who confirmed that there was a fire involving their washing machine located in the ground floor kitchen.
The two occupiers and their dogs had evacuated from the premises.
Two fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus and using a Carbon Dioxide extinguisher, extinguished the fire shortly after their arrival.
Incident Commander John Callaway said: "The property did have a smoke alarm, however it had not operated. This highlights the need to test smoke alarms at least once a week and for all occupants to know what to do in the event of a fire."
