Serious Road Traffic Collision

Crews from Oxfordshire County Council Fire & Rescue Service were called 1:35pm 7 January 2012 to a serious road traffic collision, where a car had left the road way and had hit a large tree at high speed near Cowleaze Wood, Christmas Common.

Crews from Watlington, Henley and Kidlington Rescue Tender attended and had to cut a young female driver who was seriously trapped out of her car, using hydraulic cutting equipment. The Ambulance Service assisted in treating the serious injuries.

Acting Watch Manager King said the female was released and flown by helicopter to the John Radcliffe Hospital to assess her serious injuries, with thanks to the prompt arrival and professionalism of the Fire & Rescue Service, he added that all drivers should take extra care especially during the winter months.
